Fare

Route and train

Nozomi, Hikari and Kodama all stop at Nagoya. With a JR Pass, Hikari and Kodama need no extra ticket; Nozomi needs the special ticket shown below.

Does the JR Pass cover it?

Pass holders who want Nozomi or Mizuho need a NOZOMI MIZUHO Ticket: ¥4,180 (about US$27) per adult per ride on this route (official Japan Rail Pass site, last checked 2026-10-22).

Is a JR Pass worth it for this trip?

A round trip (¥22,600) is about 45% of a 7 day JR Pass (¥50,000). On its own this route will not justify a pass; single tickets are cheaper unless the rest of your week involves several long trips.

Local JR lines

In Nagoya, visitors mostly get around by subway, tram or bus rather than JR, so the location planner counts no local JR spend there. Those are not covered by the JR Pass.
