Route and train

Trains run from Shin-Osaka to Hakata, the Shinkansen station for Fukuoka. Mizuho and Nozomi are the fastest; pass holders without the special ticket use Sakura or Hikari trains.

Does the JR Pass cover it?

Nozomi and Mizuho trains need a separate NOZOMI MIZUHO Ticket with the JR Pass. We have not published its price for this route yet; see the official special ticket page.

Is a JR Pass worth it for this trip?

A round trip (¥32,040) is about 64% of a 7 day JR Pass (¥50,000). One or two more long legs in the same week could tip it in the pass's favour; run your whole route through the planner.

Local JR lines

In Fukuoka, visitors mostly get around by subway, tram or bus rather than JR, so the location planner counts no local JR spend there. Those are not covered by the JR Pass.
